about the original piece:
Inspired by the 10pm sunsets in Alaska during my residency with the Sitka Conservation Society.
This part of Alaska is home to the Tongass National Forest, which absorbs more carbon than any other National Forest. It is a uniquely remote area, with very few roads, and is only accessible by boat and float plane.
While my mind usually time travels between what I've done and what I'm going to do, it rarely focuses on the present. Seeing these sunsets in the Alaskan Wilderness made me feel alive and rooted in the present.
To me, this piece represents that feeling.
